A repair estimate is an offer from the workshop: it states the expected repair costs – no more. An accident appraisal is an independent, court-proof documentation of the entire loss.
The decisive point: the repair estimate says nothing about diminished value, replacement value, residual value, loss of use or hidden damage. Precisely these items often make up a substantial part of a liability claim.
