After a knock against a kerb, a pothole or another vehicle, the real damage frequently stays invisible: a distorted axle, a displaced subframe, a mounting point that has drifted out of tolerance. It only becomes noticeable through a crooked steering wheel, uneven tyre wear or unsettled handling.
A 3D wheel alignment records toe, camber, caster and kingpin inclination precisely on both axles and compares them against the manufacturer's target values. Deviations can then be proven beyond doubt – as the basis for approving the repair and for the claim against the insurer.
The measurement protocol forms part of the report and documents both the starting position and the target values in a way that can be followed. Where the collision was not your fault, the measurement counts among the necessary heads of loss and is borne by the other party's liability insurer.
