There is no statutory requirement to appoint a data protection officer.
When you visit our pages, the hosting provider automatically records information transmitted by your browser: browser type and version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, the time of the server request and the IP address. This data serves the technical provision, stability and security of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in an error-free and secure presentation). It is not combined with other data sources. The log files are deleted after 30 days at the latest.
If you contact us by telephone, e-mail or WhatsApp, we process the data you provide (name, contact details, information about the vehicle and the claim) solely in order to deal with your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for enquiries relating to a contract or its initiation, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Your data is deleted once the enquiry has been finally dealt with and no statutory retention periods stand in the way.
A note on WhatsApp: when you make contact via WhatsApp, data is transmitted to WhatsApp Ireland Ltd.; transfer to third countries cannot be ruled out. If you would prefer to avoid that, please use the telephone or e-mail.
In order to produce a report we process in particular vehicle data, the registration plate, the vehicle identification number, information on how the damage occurred, photographs of the vehicle and your contact and bank details for settlement. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Disclosure is made solely to the bodies you name or those involved in the claim – the other party's liability insurer, your workshop or your solicitor, for instance – and to residual value exchanges, so far as that is necessary to establish the residual value. Appraisal documents are retained in accordance with German commercial and tax retention periods (as a rule six and ten years respectively).
This website embeds typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page is loaded, a connection is made to Google's servers (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland) and your IP address is transmitted. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (a consistent presentation of the website). Where no external connections are to be established, the typefaces can be embedded locally.
Individual background images are loaded via the image service Unsplash (Unsplash Inc., Canada). In doing so your IP address is transmitted to the provider. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (fast delivery of image material).
On our pages we embed a map from the Google Maps service in order to show you our location. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
The map is not loaded automatically. Until you expressly agree, you see only a locally stored placeholder; no connection to Google is established. Only when you click „Load map“ or enable maps in the consent banner does your browser transmit data to Google – in particular your IP address, information about your browser and device, and the page you called up. A transfer to the USA may take place; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
The legal basis is solely your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR together with § 25(1) TDDDG. You can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future – through the „Cookie settings“ entry in the footer of every page. In the guides section we embed posts from our Instagram profile @schwarzwald.kfzgutachter . The provider is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland.
This content is likewise not loaded automatically. Without your agreement you see only a local placeholder; there is no connection to Meta. Only when you click „Load posts“ or enable the „Social media“ category in the consent banner are the official Instagram embeds loaded. In doing so your browser transmits to Meta, among other things, your IP address, information about your browser and device, and the page you called up. Meta may set cookies and – if you are logged in to Instagram or Facebook – associate you with your user account. A transfer to the USA is possible; Meta Platforms Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
We have no influence over the extent and purpose of the processing carried out by Meta. The legal basis is solely your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR together with § 25(1) TDDDG; withdrawal is possible at any time through „Cookie settings“ in the footer. The mere link to our Instagram profile – in the header or on the home page, for instance – transmits no data. Only when you click on it do you leave this website.
This website sets no cookies for analysis or marketing purposes and embeds no tracking services. No profiling and no audience measurement takes place.
The only technically necessary storage is that of your privacy choice in your browser's local storage
(entry swk-consent-v2). What is stored is solely the decision you made
and when you made it – no identifier by which you could be determined. This access requires no consent under
§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, because it is strictly necessary in order to provide the service you asked for –
namely respecting your choice. You can delete the entry at any time through your
browser settings; the banner then appears again on your next visit.

This privacy policy is current as at 2026. We update it as soon as the legal position or our processing operations change.
