Discretion & secrecy

Confidentiality.

Please note: this is a translation provided for your convenience. The legally binding version is the German one, which you will find under Vertraulichkeit. Where the two differ, the German text prevails. German law applies.

An appraisal is produced using highly personal data: vehicle details, photographs, an account of how the collision happened, and often information about family, occupation and financial circumstances. We handle that information the way we would expect it to be handled ourselves – confidentially and strictly for its purpose.

Our duty of confidentiality

The appraiser and everyone working for him undertake to treat confidentially every fact that becomes known in the course of an instruction. This duty is unlimited in time and continues after the instruction has been completed.

Disclosure only with your release

Independence

We are not a partner office of any insurer, workshop chain or dealership, and we receive no commissions from third parties. There is therefore neither reason nor route to pass information from your instruction to anyone who might profit from it.

Retention and deletion

We keep appraisal documents only as long as statutory retention periods require (under German commercial and tax law as a rule six and ten years respectively). After that they are deleted or destroyed in a data protection compliant manner. Digital documents are held on access-protected systems; paper documents are kept under lock and key.

Statutory exceptions

Disclosure takes place only where we are required by law to make it – to courts, prosecuting authorities or tax authorities acting within their powers, for instance. Where it is legally permissible, we inform you of it.

A separate confidentiality agreement

For businesses, collections and particularly sensitive cases we will sign a separate non-disclosure agreement on request. Simply get in touch: +49 173 689 33 55 or info@schwarzwaldkfzgutachter.de.
