Electric two-wheelers · Reports & valuations

E-bikes & e-scooters.

E-bikes and e-scooters are no longer simply bicycles – technically, legally and for insurance purposes they follow rules of their own. We assess accident damage, establish replacement values and check condition before a purchase.

Why have a report?

More technology, more scope for damage.

Modern e-bikes and e-scooters are technically demanding vehicles: motor, battery, control unit and frame form a system in which accident damage rarely stops at the surface. Anyone who invoices only for paint scratches and a bent handlebar misses the most expensive part of the loss.

The battery in particular is a frequently underestimated item. Even modest mechanical loading from a fall or an impact can damage cells without anything being visible from outside. A damaged battery is not only expensive – it can also present a safety risk.

We document all damage in full and establish realistic repair costs together with the replacement value. That gives you a robust basis in dealings with the insurer – whether the vehicle is a pedelec, a speed pedelec or a road-legal e-scooter.

Battery & motor damage

We record damage to the drive system completely – visible deformation and hidden damage caused by an impact or a fall.

Accident appraisal

A court-proof damage report after a road traffic collision – entirely free for the injured party, because the other side's liability insurer bears the cost.

Pre-purchase check

Before you buy a used e-bike or e-scooter we examine the technology, the battery condition, the frame and any earlier damage.

Scope

What we assess.

We produce reports for every common type of electric two-wheeler. On speed pedelecs and road-legal e-scooters we additionally take account of the particular insurance position – because here motor liability rules apply, not bicycle law.

  • Pedelecs (up to 25 km/h) and speed pedelecs (up to 45 km/h)
  • E-scooters with road approval (§ 1a of the German Road Traffic Act)
  • Electric mountain bikes and electric cargo bikes
  • E-bikes of every brand (Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha, Specialized, Trek and many more)
  • Accident damage: frame, motor, battery, electronics, attached components
  • Valuations for a purchase, a sale, insurance and claim settlement

Insurance

Who pays for the report?

Where you were not at fault in a collision with a motor vehicle, the other party's motor liability insurer bears the cost of the report in full – and that applies to e-bikes and road-legal e-scooters too, as injured road users.

On comprehensive-insurance claims (theft, a fall with no third party involved) it depends on your policy. For pre-purchase advice and pure valuation reports we quote a fixed price in advance – transparent, with no surprises.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

Do I really need a report for an e-bike?
For accident damage from around €750 in repair costs a report is worthwhile – and where the collision was not your fault it costs you nothing. It secures every element: repair costs, diminished value and loss of use. Without a report, insurers cut claims in our experience.
Can battery damage be assessed at all?
We document visible damage and deformation to the battery and, where there is any suspicion, recommend a further examination by the manufacturer or a specialist workshop. The damage is recorded in full in the report and presented robustly for the insurer.
Does the report cover my e-scooter as well?
Yes. Road-legal e-scooters under § 1a of the German Road Traffic Act fall under motor liability law. We produce reports for every approved model – the same rules apply here as in a collision involving a car.
How long does the report take?
The on-site inspection normally takes 30 to 60 minutes. You then receive the finished report within 24 hours – by e-mail as a PDF, and as a printed copy if you would like one.
